Children's Discovery Room Entrance for Parents The room will be open every day of the week until Thanksgiving. Check the Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum for daily hours Entrance for children looking toward the hearth. Entrance for children looking toward the story wall. The outer wall with tree, panels and the black angus bull "Patrick" the black angus bull, View of the children's discovery room as parents and children enter All the fun things to do at the hearth, the pot hook swings out and in View toward the authentic eastern woodland lodge built by Barry Keegan and Tim Thoman. The mural and the bricks and the tree areas were painted by Suzanne Shelden and Deborah McClure and portrays the branches and leaves of many common native trees. On the branches and in the brush, children will spy many birds and animals, including a deer and a fawn. Inside the lodge the mural continues, expanding the view within. Inside find gourds and other fun items from the village. The View from the lodge toward the Archaeology and building wall. This is the tree with the bird ID game. The birds in the canopy are original paintings by Megan Richard. Each Bird has it's own, labeled nest and the eggs are specific to each bird. This is Kate Dinnel's native plant garden outside the Children's Discovery Room. Many thanks to those with whom I worked so closely on this project.
